I have bought the complete Self Defense Training System about three weeks ago and after watching the entire program, I feel obliged to tell the public how good your program really is for their own safety. I have been studying Close Combat in private lessons at a school which is not affiliated with the Self-Defense Company for 1 year and a half now. Before that, I tried several self-defense systems and watched hundreds of self-defense DVDs.
First of all, after training in Close Combat only for a few weeks I realized how The Self Defense Training System™ was superior to other self-defense systems. So this is the first reason why I encourage you to buy The Self Defense Training System™ because of the self-defense system taught which is: Close Combat.
My second reason is because it’s easy to see in the DVDs that Mr. Damian Ross is an honest man and that he has the safety of people at heart. Let me give you a couple of examples of that. Many self-defense instructors make you believe that you will be able to defend yourself efficiently, when in fact you’ll only be able to defend yourself properly if you train for years in their systems. Other self-defense instructors will lie to you and say that you will be able to defend yourself in their systems with low fitness level. I feel this puts the public at great risk of injury, because if you want to be able to deal with a self-defense situation, unless you defend yourself with a weapon, you have to have a relatively good level of fitness, otherwise you will got out of breath within seconds, especially if you are not used to dealing with the adrenaline peak you will experience. The proof of this can be observed in The Self Defense Training System™ by seeing Mr.Ross, who has been an athlete for a good part of his life, not being out of breath but sweating in some DVDs, because he puts all his energy into his attacks, which is what should be done if you want to have a chance at surviving against a good attacker. After a year and a half of private Close Combat training and physical training, I am still only able to go at full force and speed for about a minute on a training dummy, which would be more than enough to finish one or even multiple attackers if you fight like shown The Self Defense Training System™, until I start having trouble breathing even though I can run miles before beginning to have trouble breathing. Your whole body is involved in Close Combat and this is totally different than running or speed walking. Plus, if you choose to escape a situation, you’ve got to be able to run fast enough and long enough to get to a safe place and a bad fitness level is not going to permit you to accomplish that.
Lastly, I strongly encourage you to buy this entire Self Defense Training System because Mr.Ross doesn’t show you anything that will put your life in danger if you do as he says, unlike several other DVDs (who shall remain nameless) \ which show you stuff that will get you killed in the streets because these techniques work tremendously in a Dojo, but not in a Street Fight where everything is chaotic and happens so fast.
Here is my suggestion: Buy the entire Self Defnese Training System as your core self-defense, train as instructed, and to add a little more reality have a partner get in your face, swear at you and intimidate you, so you can feel what it is like to be in an adrenalized state. Believe me You won’t be able to do complex motor movements I can guarantee. Try scenarios where you will try to verbally de-escalate the conflict, if possible. I even encourage you to look at some self-defense DVDs from other instructors but take the Self Defense Trining System from the Self-Defense Company as your core because this system is so effective and so complete technically speaking that you won’t find anything that comes even close to it. You’ve got one of the best instructors in the world, Mr.Damian Ross, that will answer all your questions on his forum and that is priceless for continuous learning and stupid to not take advantage of this great resource.
